H.M. MacDonald Elementary School

We are very excited to welcome you all back to H.M. MacDonald Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year.  A very special thank you to the Operations Staff at the SRCE for the amazing renovations completed in our P/1 and 1/2's classrooms.  We appreciate the fresh new classes and painting completed over the summer. The Grade 1/2 class also have a new set of cubbies to keep their outdoor gear organized.

We are pleased to offer free school supplies to all of our students again this year compliments of our Parent Association and your fundraising efforts. Students will need to bring their own backpack, lunch box, and indoor sneakers for Physical Education class. If you require any assistance with any of these items, please contact your child’s teacher and they will help or [email protected]. We will continue to offer a daily Breakfast Program and you can check out the monthly calendar for the Friday lunch specials (either Subway or Pizza).

We have an amazing school community and some wonderful events at our school.  Check our Twitter(X) account for frequent updates at @HMMSchool. Our new Instagram account has some fun recaps of our day and can be found at @hm_macdonald_school. Teacher communication plans, the monthly calendar, staff lists and more can all be found on our newly renovated website at hmms.srce.ca.

Please consider joining our School Advisory Council. Our first meeting will be later in September and you will receive an alert as a reminder. Our School Advisory Council andParent Association are valuable partners and make important contributions  to what makes our school special. We appreciate all their support and input. New members are always welcome. Our community and families help make our school special and we value your feedback.  Please do not hesitate to call or email if you need assistance or have an idea.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our School Secretary, Carmel MacPherson, by email at Carmel MacPherson or call the school at 902-863-2096 and we can help you fill out the forms needed to get started. Last year, our volunteers made incredible contributions to our school including chaperoning trips, cooking for students, preparing items for the Breakfast Program, volunteering in classes and much more. We hope to expand our growing list and truly value the support you give our students. 

We would like to welcome new staff and again thank everyone for their hard work in renovating, cleaning and preparing our school for opening day. We look forward to showing off the new renovations at our Meet the Teacher BBQ on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 6:00 pm.
