Dear HM Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year!

As we turn the page to a new school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’re on together. My first year as Principal at HM was truly a wonderful experience—filled with warmth, support, and a deep sense of community. I felt immediately at home in our small, close-knit school, where every individual is known, valued, and inspired to grow. I am so grateful to be part of a place where kindness, compassion, and connection guide everything we do.

This past year, we celebrated many meaningful accomplishments together—from exciting student achievements and joyful school events to impactful updates to our learning spaces, our logo, and outdoor areas. We embraced challenges, supported one another, and created lasting memories through both fun and learning. Through it all, our commitment to nurturing curiosity, responsibility, and well-being remained at the core of what we do.

As we begin this new school year, our H.M. MacDonald theme continues to grow: “Building Bridges Through Kindness, Belonging and Growth.” This theme reflects not just a goal, but a way of being. At HM, we believe in creating a safe, respectful environment where all students, staff, and families feel seen, heard, and supported. We prioritize social-emotional growth and well-being, encourage exploration, and foster a love for learning through both engaging classroom practices and meaningful outdoor, experiential opportunities.

Together, we will continue to build strong relationships, celebrate growth, and make every day count. I am excited to continue this journey with you—working hand in hand to ensure that every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.

Here’s to another amazing year at HM—one filled with joy, discovery, connection, and purpose.

Warmly,

Candace Power
Principal
